FantasyCon 2009: the Financials

The committee of FantasyCon 2009 have asked us to make a summary of their accounts available online.

Here they are in pdf.

FantasyCon 2009: All Over

FantasyCon 2009 is over and all agree that this was a weekend to remember. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the hard working members of the FantasyCon committee; they went above and beyond in order to craft a genuinely wonderful convention.

FantasyCon 2009: Only 3 Days to...

The comedian and author JOHN LENAHAN will be appearing at FantasyCon 2009

The following information is taken from John's website

John Lenahan came to Britain from his native Philadelphia for a short trip and has never quite made it back.

John originally grabbed the headlines as the first person in 85 years to be expelled from the Magic Circle. The 3-card trick he exposed on How Do They do That? is no more than a gambling con, but John took the rap and enjoyed the publicity.

2004 saw him starring in a new primetime BBC1 show, Secrets of Magic. His own BBC2 series, Stuff The White Rabbit, achieved record ratings for theslot. Other TV credits include presenting the travelogue Open Road, playing the voice of the toaster in Red Dwarf, and guest appearances onn everything from TFI Friday to Celebrity Squares. He also fronted HoaxBusters, an ITV network show lifting the lid on scams and hoaxes.

John has performed onstage all over the world, from Beijing and Dubai to Dublin. He has toured alongside Jack Dee, Victoria Wood, Lenny Henry and Michael Ball.

Besides all this, Lenahan is one of the most successful corporate entertainers in the country. Apart from his show-stealing cabaret, he has made kitchens appear, taught Bank of England staff to juggle, read thousands of minds and levitated a 20-pound Toblerone bar. He was the first person on record to perform magic live over the Internet, for BT.

John has been described by The Guardian as 'the mascot of a magical renaissance' - and by Jackie Collins as 'extremely good looking'.

John Lenahan lives in Cricklewood, London, with his son and a collection of computers and gadgetry. In a world dominated by awards, he is proud to have once been voted Time Out Street Magician of the Year.

John is the author of the novel SHADOWMAGIC, available from HarperCollins.

Fantasycon 2009 Announces Sebastian Peake as Special Guest

FantasyCon is pleased to announce that SEBASTIAN PEAKE will be attending the convention as our Special Guest, where he will speak about his father, MERVYN PEAKE, artist, poet and author of the magnificent Gormenghast trilogy.

Sebastian is the eldest of Mervyn and Maeve Peake’s children. He has worked in the wine trade, has travelled widely, and became a leading modern jazz drummer, playing with several bands in London, Stockholm and Berlin. Sebastian speaks regularly at literary festivals, schools and universities both at home and abroad.

He is the author of A Child of Bliss: Growing Up With Mervyn Peake, published in 1989, which was reissued in a companion volume with his mother's memoir, Mervyn Peake: Two Lives. Sebastian has published three collections of poetry and also writes about Mervyn and other things on his blog.
